Nucleation and Growth of Graphene/Mo 2 C Heterostructures on Cu through CVD

We investigated the chemical vapor deposition synthesis of Mo2C/graphene heterostructures on a partially wetted liquid copper surface, studied morphology resulting phases using electron and optical microscopy, determined rate-limiting step for growth Mo2C graphene. The crystals varied from center to edge substrate because change in Mo diffusion pathways owing variation thickness Cu substrate. Thin, hexagonal-shaped were found central region, where is thickest. In addition, pressure substantially affects nucleation kinetics both At high pressures (750 Torr), graphene layer fully covered surface formed with regular shape, while at low (5 domains was suppressed, leading evolution irregular shapes. activation energy calculated be 3.76 ± 0.3 eV, through uncovered or vacancies/defects step.
